Jackson is known as the “hub city” due its central location as the county seat of Madison County. There are four-lane roads to access the city in all directions, which is one reason Jackson continues to grow. More and more businesses are bringing their workforce to the area and many employees commute from one of the thirteen surrounding counties.

Although there are several colleges in the city such as Union University, Lane College, Lambuth University and Jackson State Community College, it is far from a college town.

Jackson is home to the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, a minor league baseball team affiliated with the Seattle Mariners. The University of Tennessee’s Agriculture Experiment Station is nearby along with Pinson Mounds State Park, The Jackson Symphony, Casey Jones Village and much more.

There is always something going on downtown. Jackson hosts the Miss Tennessee Scholarship Pageant and the NAIA Women’s Basketball Tournament. You can also take advantage of the festivals such as The Rock-A-Billy Festival and The Shannon Street Blues Festival as well as flea markets and parades. The community calendar will always keep you updated on the happenings in the Jackson area.

If you’re looking for good schools, Jackson-Madison County has a top-notch school system with high test scores on Tennessee’s Gateway tests. Students in the Jackson-Madison County School System get a quality education. Students have the opportunity to partake in competitive sports and other after-school activities.
