Jackson Shools

Magnet schools became popular in the 1970s, and they are just as popular today. Jackson-Madison County has a good Magnet School Program. The area has 10 magnet schools that provide students with opportunities to learn in different environments that match their individual learning styles and academic abilities.

Arlington International Leadership School has a focus more on geography, citizenship and leadership within their local community, their state and even international experiences. Through this learning process, students gain leadership skills and learn how to become a good citizen. The school's core curriculum includes reading, language arts, economics, geography and creative arts.

Isaac Lane Technology Magnet Elementary School helps students explore technological careers in science, health, engineering and communications. Students are taught to think creatively, make decisions, solve problems and learn how to reason.

Lincoln Math and Science Elementary School is designed to increase the student’s understanding and application of science and math. Students have opportunities to learn through hands-on experiences with math and science labs.

North Parkway Magnet School uses the Multiple Intelligence and Talent Development Theory to create a learning atmosphere that promotes students learning through several different styles. Students are exposed to various forms of learning such as string instruments, drama, keyboard, and drums, in addition to the traditional academic areas. Students are encouraged to participate in performances, clubs and community activities.

Parkview Montessori Magnet Elementary is one of only four Montessori public schools in Tennessee. The school's approach is an international philosophy based on the work of Dr. Maria Montessori. She felt the goal of educating a child was to peak and maintain their natural interest to learn. Students at this school are not only encouraged to enjoy learning, but they do it at their own pace.

Jackson Careers and Technology Magnet Intermediate School uses Science, Medicine, Engineering and Communications through problem-based learning. Programs include WeatherBug Achieve, Presentation Station, TV Production, Distance Learning, Recording Studio, and Transition Camp for incoming students and a Parent Technology Program. These programs are integrated into the core academic subjects. After school programs are also offered.

Rose Hill Magnet Middle School uses curriculum that connects traditional subjects with each other for more rapid learning. Arts and humanities are added to provide students with unique opportunities to explore the world around them.

Madison Academic High School offers a strong college preparatory program. The focus is on academic achievement, so strict enrollment procedures allow those with high grade point averages to excel. Students can take a course for both high school and college credit.

Liberty Technology Magnet High School provides strong academic curriculum but also incorporates Agriscience, Communications Technology, Manufacturing Science, Health Science Technology, Hospitality and Tourism, and Automotive Technology. Along with the basic academic curriculum, these programs prepare the student for both college and the workplace.
